Learning Approach
At Lily Montessori Childcare, our educational approach is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of children as they grow, from their earliest years through adolescence. This comprehensive method provides the foundation for developing the skills and knowledge required to succeed in today’s world. A key responsibility of our Montessori-trained teachers is to track and support each child's progress, guiding them through the extensive Montessori curriculum. Assessment in Montessori is a natural and ongoing process, built into the daily classroom routine. By observing the children, using materials that reflect their understanding, and maintaining detailed records, our teachers are able to closely follow and nurture their development.

Our carefully prepared environment is tailored to the needs of young learners. Peer interactions are encouraged to help nurture social-emotional growth, while a strong focus on spoken language and early literacy skills equips children to communicate effectively. Teachers support each child’s individual learning path, while the multi-age classrooms provide a rich environment for children to engage in various social roles and learn from one another.

Montessori Areas Of Learning
Practical Life
At Lily Montessori, our Casa/Preschool Practical Life activities help children develop essential skills to care for themselves, others, and their environment, fostering a sense of belonging within their classroom community. Through their involvement, children learn to contribute to maintaining a welcoming and beautiful space. Grace & Courtesy lessons further enhance social development by equipping children with the appropriate language and behaviors for various social situations.
Art plays a significant role in Practical Life as well. Children are introduced to various artistic mediums, providing them with opportunities to build fine motor skills and express their creativity. This includes activities in visual arts, sewing, and culinary exploration.
Sensorial
Preschool/Casa sensorial activities are designed to help children refine and heighten their senses. Through these activities, they learn to distinguish differences in color, texture, and sound, while also developing the ability to organize their thoughts and objects within their surroundings.
Language
The primary focus of our Preschool/Casa language materials and activities is to help children express themselves confidently, both in speaking and writing, while developing fluency in English. Children are introduced to language through a carefully structured progression of lessons, starting with an awareness of the different sounds within words. From there, they learn the language phonetically, laying a strong foundation before moving on to the rules of spelling and reading, along with any exceptions they may encounter, ensuring they gain the skills needed for fluent communication.
Mathematics
Math materials and activities provide a hands-on, sensorial experience that introduces children to concrete representations of numbers and quantities. Almost every math activity involves movement or manipulation, allowing children to engage actively with the concepts.
Children begin by learning to count from 1 to 10, associating number symbols with specific quantities. Through the manipulation of these materials, they gradually understand addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, gaining a deep comprehension of how each operation works. The Montessori approach gives children a strong and solid foundation in mathematical understanding.
Culture
At Lily Montessori Childcare, subjects like Geography, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Art, and Music are integrated as extensions of our sensorial and language activities. Children are introduced to different cultures and people around the world with an emphasis on respect and appreciation, helping them cultivate a sense of connection to the global human community. Experiences with nature inspire a deep reverence for all living things.
